Prof. B. Islamov is a prominent scholar in economics and former diplomat and politician from Uzbekistan. He was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation in 2003 and additionally to the Republic of Belarus with residence in Moscow in 2004. He was appointed in December 2008 as Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and in March 2010 also became National Coordinator of the CIS and the EU Strategy for Central Asia, liaising on technical assistance programs of the European Commission in Uzbekistan. In 2012 he was appointed as Professor at Tashkent Branch of Russian University of Economics named after G.V. Plekhanov (Uzbekistan).
